Methotraxate

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I started taking methotrexate a month ago, I've been feeling very sick, dizzy, ulcers in my mouth n my hair has started to come out a bit more. Does the symptoms ease the longer you take it or will it get worse? Thanks in advance

I was started on metho at 4 mg pill form.. over a years time I was up to 20mg and I was so sick I complained about my stomach and being so tired for 2 to 3 days following the dose.. so 4 ok days but 3 bad days a week. He took me off the pills and I went to the injection once a week 25 mg. It cleared the stomach issues right up but that's all. My hair fell out every time I showered, brushed it, man it was always everywhere. It was quite noticable to me that it was falling out on this drug vs not on this drug. I noted that I have never been clear and was told I never will be which I do not believe. It did help a lot with the P, it thinned way down and many smaller areas cleared up. I am no longer on this because my blood work shows inflammation is still the same so moving on I started Humira 4 weeks ago but reactions to this drug were horrible for me and I was told to stop after second injection. I will start Embrel on Monday and see how this works. ALL I can really say is you have to keep going until you find a drug that works and doesn't ruin what life you can have.. being sick is not any way to live because of a medication. There are SO SO many drugs to try that you have to ADVOCATE all the time for yourself and do NOT wait until your next appt.. Call the doctors office and report everything, or go there and tell them and they tell the doctor. I have a health care portal now and it is a great way to talk to any of my many doctors now.. Good luck!!
