Has Anyone Found Their Condition To Get Worse Following Completion Of PUVA Or With Steroid Withdrawal Or With Coal Tar Usage?

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭

So. Three weeks ago I finished a 30 session PUVA treatment. Most of my body, with the exception of my shins were clear, and even they were flat and non-flakey. 3 weeks on, having been told to stop all steroid ointments and use only Exorex (coal tar solution) and moisturiser, my skin is the worst it has been in years. My entire torso now has guttate spots with larger plaques on my arms, legs, hands, lower back, knees and elbows that are red raw, sore and cracking no matter how often I moisturise… read more

Shona when I came off Methotrexate my Psorisis got worse. Mainly have it on my scalp and it definitely got worse and got spots and patches on my legs which I hadent had to date. So possibly coming off the steroids would have exacerbated the Psorisis .

I know if you followed the advice about everything, eating certain foods, completely banning other everyday foods, taking treatments, applying lotions, potions, cures etc it would completely take over your life. The pain and irritation is bad enough but the help and advice for improving your health can be so confusing and often conflicting. What might work for me may not work at all for you. So it's just trial and error all the way til we find what combination works. Best of luck to you on your journey. I hope you find the way to improved health without too much hassle.

I can so relate to this, I was on a steroid burst and weaned off and psoriasis rapidly worsened in places I never had it and I cannot sleep at all, I have cellulitis on both arms from the psoriasis. I've never used coal tar so cannot comment on that and I've never used PUVA I have tried and failed methotrexate humira and enbrel and I'm waiting for insurance answer on stelara. I wish I could tell you what helps the itching. I've tried benadryl and Atarax coconut oil vinegar aloe and Epsom salts soaks along with oatmeal and a slew of OTC creams and have little relief. If anything works for me I will post it on here because I know how miserable it is. Good luck and keep your head up!
