Genital Psoriasis

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭

This is a personal question, but since we are hopefully all mature adults maybe you could share, if not I totally understand. I'm wondering from a medical perspective and I have experienced it myself, has anyone ever experienced Genital Psoriasis. I did years ago and it was extremely uncomfortable and itched like crazy. My old Dermatologist said That "Psoriasis attacks anywhere where there is skin". Just wondering how common or uncommon is this condition from people like myself that suffer from… read more

I had it years ago around my anus and labia. Itched like crazy and was kinda messy. Thankfully it did go away after a time and hasn’t been back. I treated it with a topical steroid for a time but I don’t believe that is how it went into remission. I still have plaque psoriasis in my scalp and a few other typical locations. It’s been almost 50 years with it. It comes and goes (briefly) in the same spots and different spots.

Hi Katrina If Talz is not working for you and helping you get relief , ask to be tried on another Biologic!! Not every med that works for one , works for all .. No sense taking something that is not effective .. There are many new Biologic type drugs available and if you try , you will find one that is effective .. It is a tough journey but it is reachable .. Hope to here back that you have found help..Keep Smiling!!

Hi .. Yes Ps can be anywhere there is skin.. I too suffered from it and it is very embarrassing especially when you are in a group of people as there is no way you cannot attend to the itch when it happens!! I have been there .. I was advised to remove the hair and use a good moisturiser and the rubbing of the clothes over the area will help remove the scale and help satisfy the itch.. I know it may sound somewhat erotic ...but it sure does help .. not necessary to shave .. just use hair clippers..just removes hair and prevents scraping off the plaque as well .. Hope this helps any one and everyone ..Keep Smiling!!!
