Yes, there is a relationship between psoriasis and streptococcal infections. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- Link to Bacterial Infections: Psoriasis can be triggered by infections of group A and group C streptococcus, which are the main causes of strep throat.
- Immune System Response: The immune system attacks the streptococci bacteria, but in people with psoriasis, it may also attack the skin due to shared proteins (antigens) between the bacteria and skin tissue.
- Guttate Psoriasis: Strep throat is a common cause of guttate psoriasis, especially in children and young adults.
- Chronic Plaque Psoriasis: Streptococcal infections can cause flare-ups in people with chronic plaque psoriasis. These infections are more common in people with psoriasis due to their dysregulated immune system.
