I use Cosalic shampoo, and also T-Gel, but it stinks...so I switched.

Hi Judy, there are so many different shampoos and lotions out there. I found a tar based shampoo called Polytar. I find it very effective for me. We are all different and what might work for one might not work for another. Photo attached. I hope it might be of help.
Regards
Dean.

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with plaque scalp psoriasis. Here are some treatment options that might help:

1. Topical Medications:
- Corticosteroids: These are the first-line prescription treatments and come in creams, lotions, ointments, or shampoos. They are used for 2-4 weeks before a break is needed to avoid skin thinning.
- Clobetasol Propionate: Often prescribed for severe cases and can be used daily for up to four weeks, then weekly for maintenance.

2. Systemic Medications:
- Methotrexate and Cyclosporine: These are prescribed for severe cases or when other treatments fail.
- Biologics: Medications like adalimumab (Humira), etanercept (Enbrel), and secukinumab (Cosentyx) might be effective.

3. Over-the-Counter Shampoos:
- Coal Tar: Found in products like T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo.
- Salicylic Acid: Found in T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo.
- Selenium Sulfide: Found in Head & Shoulders and Selsun Blue.

4. Rotating Treatments: It's beneficial to rotate between different shampoos and treatments to prevent the scalp from getting used to one ingredient.

5. Scalp Oils: Containing topical steroids, these can be used once or twice a week.

6. Light Treatments: Phototherapy might be an option if other treatments are ineffective.

It's important to work closely with your dermatologist to find the right combination of treatments for you.

Shampoo alone did not help me. Otezla, a topical prescription salve, and shampoo caused the scalp psoriasis to go away over 3-6 months.
