All I know is that when I was born doctors still made house calls.
If one hadn't come, I would have been part of the infant mortality rate.
Where's our sense of humanity gone.
I think of the movie Little Big Man, when Chief Dan George is commenting on how the non-natives have no center.
I feel so fortunate to have found the good doctors that I have.
Working on finding a few more.
With, or without, insurance, it's quite challenging.
Sometimes you have to go the distance, literally.

I’d point out that since this was a doctor who didn’t seem to want to be your doctor, taking their word for your levels being fine without knowing what ( or IF ) they tested is a huge leap of faith on your part. This takes work. We have to construct a situation where we get the testing and care we need, not just rely on it being given to us.. 🤍

You need to a s k for your test results, so that you have them yourself.

My point is always to show that the specifics here, nutrition : vitamin & mineral levels and diet: what you eat and what you should avoid, are not things brought up by doctors.

These are things you need to learn about and pursue to have tested so you can find what levels are off.

As others have tried to point out to you, without insurance you are eligible for healthcare programs and should not simply go without. Your current health is now the biggest clue or symptom that should evidence this to you. Without care, symptoms do not wait, but progress. We must each learn to advocate for our own healthcare. People here are trying to help you.

So sorry that happened to you.
Drs are very busy and she may have seen your latest call as being more than she could handle if that kept up? All in all we have very few patient rights. Each time we see a new doctor, we might think that we’re reviewing them, to see if they’re good enough for us.. but in essence they’re probably reviewing us.. to see if we’re good prospective patients in the long run.. are we pleasant, are our problems simple, do we have coverage they take.

A small sliding scale family practitioner is likely struggling as they’re offering services so many people need, they’re over booked and likely understaffed and underpaid.. imagine that gig during Covid? It’s a risk of their lives as well as their families lives.. have empathy for them.

20$ visits and 80$ steroids [ which can sell for hundreds ] are very reasonable. So, I’d say, unless you have been extremely polite with their office throughout this experience, which would put you in a good place from which to hand write a letter to them pleading they not drop you ( until you retain further care ) this then of course could be politely stretched until September if you just let them continue to fill scrips. If this seems a good idea ( something s better than nothing) then tell them what a great help they’ve been to you throughout your unfortunate diagnosis and how much you appreciate everything they’ve done.

But if you’re yelling NO NO NO inside of your head as you read this, then let them go, smile and move on. I’d always try not to lose access to a doctor if I could help it. Pursuing any type of action for being dropped is fruitless and will instead only be likely to up your stress and hence potentially worsen your health. hanging onto things and bearing grudges is surprisingly bad for your immune system.. who’d a thunk it?
