Has Anyone Had To Balance A Biologic With Pain Intervention?

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Madison, CT

I have herniated discs at all levels, w severe pain. Pain doc wants to hit nerves, but rheumatology PA said no. I have to wait, due to Humira. I need med for inflammation, but also need pain control. I am between two docs. Any experience?

I Hope that he accommodated you with the medication! Some of us suffer with chronic pain that nothing seems to completely eradicate and pain medication, when taken responsibly, is the only thing that gives us periodic relief!

@A MyPsoriasisTeam Member, I would be careful since you are on a biologic. They want to do a nerve block on my spine and an ablation but I am on Otezla. I have spondylitis, herniated discs, PSA, Osteoarthritis, bone spurs, osteophytes, etc. I was on Enbrel and got a major infection when I had dental work done. If the doctor was going to do a localized injection, it may not be a problem but I would ask a lot of questions before you have it done, as you do not want to get an infection in the spine. They may want to pre-treat you with an antibiotic, that is what they did after I acquired the infection. I hope this helps:)

@A MyPsoriasisTeam Member, Thanks! We are fine! Actually it passed just a little north of us and we had a few wind gusts and very little rain. Today the sun is shining and you would never know such devastation exists not too far away! Very thankful and praying for those who were in the path of the hurricane.

Thank you. I was a geriatric care manager w my own business and book. I had power in the medical field, because I could get into records, create paper trails, and get action. After retiring and being the patient, I am now seen as a threat frequently. I KNOW very often when my care is bad, and I have no recourse. And they know i know. And it is only getting worse. The reason I went to my primary, is that I have so many serious issues going on, I pay a concierge doctor, who should be more involved in coordinating my care. I PAY HER. And here I wait.
