I have found that conditioning with eucalyptus and mint is very helpful. I buy two kinds and mix them. Or I have mixed a couple drop of essential oils into my favorite conditioner. I don’t shampoo but a couple times a month. I use a dab of Head and Shoulders with eucalyptus when I do shampoo.

Hi @A MyPsoriasisTeam Member, it depends on the individual and how sensitive their scalp is and what type of psoriasis it is, I like the MG217 coal tar and DHS brand coal tar. They each have other products like gel vs creamy shampoo, salicylic acid etc. There are pine tar ones too i believe. I tend to moisturize my whole scalp and ears the night before with Hollywood Beauty carrot oil root moisturizer hair lotion, i use it to loosen up any ‘dry’ skin or scales so the coal tar can get deeper to the skin surface. I sometimes soak the shampoos for several hours or overnight depending on how much has come back. The coal tar ones usually do smell like tar, like highway blacktop. So after ‘mostly’ rinsing i also do a quick shampoo after with my regular shampoo for better smell but not rub it into the scalp to prevent removing the tar completely off rinsing again. Then i always condition and detangle my hair with Pantene leave in combing creme because i have thin and very ‘long’ hair like in your picture. Your hair and scalp may require very different things and it really boils down to trial and error, like or dislike unfortunately. Other folks use other kinds, i just prefer the coal tar affects on mine. I hope you find one that helps yours. 🙂

Tips:
- Rotate Shampoos: It is recommended to choose two or three shampoos and rotate their use to prevent the scalp from getting used to just one ingredient.
- Test New Products: Always test any new product on a small area of your skin first to watch for any side effects.

Application Tips:
- Soaking: Some users find it helpful to let the shampoo soak on the scalp for a period (e.g., 15 minutes) before rinsing.
- Combination Use: Using shampoo as a body wash during flares can also be beneficial.

Additional Advice:
- Medicated and Nonmedicated Rotation: Alternating between medicated and nonmedicated shampoos can help manage symptoms without over-drying the scalp.
- Conditioner Use: Using a conditioner can help preserve the softness and appearance of hair while using medicated shampoos.

Always consult with a dermatologist to determine which ingredients and products will work best for your specific symptoms.
