Has Anyone Been Undiagnosed?

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just saw a new rheumatologist yesterday. After being diagnosed in 2016 with PsA, and having had 2 rheumatologists before this one, he has told me he doesn't think I have PsA. He thinks it's just fibromyalgia. I haven't been on any medication for arthritis other than pain meds and meloxicam. I have been in worse pain since stopping the last medication (Skyrizi) I was on for my PsA. How would I have had 2 other rheumatologists before this new one and both treat me for PsA for this one to tell me… read more

First off saying it’s “just Fibromyalgia “ I have both Fibro and PSA.Let me tell you Fibro is no picnic. I have been through meditation like a lot; It’s not just you. I think I might get a new doctor. Especially since you had 2 already and they diagnosed you. I’m not saying that they can’t be wrong, but so can this new doctor.

I was diagnosed with Fibro in 2017. It has been a nightmare with pain. I am just so frustrated and all of this sure doesn't help with depression. I was diagnosed with psoriasis in 2007. Between the fibro, PsA, and diagnosis of chronic pain, I'm a mess. I currently am going through problems with my back. It has been a problem for years and has gotten worse this last month. So much so that I am using a cane or walker to get around. I didn't use either yesterday when I went to the appointment but regretted it after I got there because walking was so hard. Any step I took the pain was so bad it made me start to drop to the floor.

I was left undiagnosed for many years because I didn't fit their textbook description. So I said forget it and went to Mayo. They didn't even bat an eye. My rheum there was phenomenal. She's now at Johns Hopkins last I knew. Anyway, just being off of your biologic tells me it's an inflammatory arthritis. If able, I'd seek another opinion. Mayo is in a few different locations, perhaps that would be an option for you

I had the same from Rheumatologist, said probably fibromyalgia. However we know our own bodies and there is no 'just' in fibromyalgia,it's all over pain but no psoriasis,we need to be our own advocates!
