Hi, well I will answer you on the psoriatic arthritis since the pain is excruciating. Mine are in my fingers and the pain I feel in them is excruciating if I am holding something I drop it sometimes and the pain is so terrible that it does make me cry. I sometimes find a mild relief in covering them with a blanket or my body heat and it masks somewhat the pain for a moment but the pain doesn't go away for quite a while. Other than that doing mundane things are difficult like eating, washing my hair, trying to drive, and even on the phone trying to type this out I can feel pain. It is a constant pain in my fingers but frequently I have excruciating pain. It might be different for everyone but this is just a little bit of what I feel. Hope this helps. Oh and osteoarthritis I feel pain more when I am in a very cold climate, trying to stretch is difficult as well since there is limited range of motion. I do feel inflammation and sharp stabbing pains as well quite frequently. But I also have fibromyalgia so I am in a chronic state of pain at every second but those are some signs of what I feel. Hope it helped!

My rheumatologist says central pain (back & hips) is PsA and everything else is Osteo, but his diagnosis changes every time I see him. I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis for over 50 years by multiple doctors.

To differentiate between osteoarthritis (OA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA), consider the following points:

Key Differences:
1. Nature of the Condition:
- PsA: An inflammatory autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks healthy tissues.
- OA: A degenerative disease caused by mechanical wear on the joints.

2. Symptoms:
- PsA:
- Joint pain and swelling.
- Non-joint symptoms like fatigue, nail changes (pitting or separation), dactylitis (swelling in fingers and toes), and uveitis (eye inflammation).
- OA:
- Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling.
- Unusual sounds like crunching or grinding (crepitus).

3. Diagnosis:
- Imaging Tests: X-rays, ultrasound, and MRI can help diagnose both conditions.
- Blood Tests: Used to differentiate between PsA and OA.

Similarities:
- Both conditions cause joint pain, stiffness, and swelling.
- Treatments often overlap, including the use of NSAIDs and corticosteroid injections.

Diagnostic Challenges:
- Due to overlapping symptoms, diagnosing the correct condition can be challenging and may require a combination of clinical assessment, imaging, and blood tests.

Current Time Awareness:
- As of today, Thursday, September 5th, 2024, these diagnostic methods and symptom differentiations remain relevant.

For a more accurate diagnosis, consult with a healthcare professional who can perform the necessary tests and evaluations.

I am in a Clinvest PSA drug trial. I asked that same question…. What is PSA vs OSTEO! Answer was this…. The pain an generalized morning stiffness. If it works it was down, or stops once up and moving, active… that pain & stiffness is likely OSTEO.

I replied that once I sit down awhile (15 working), get up and ache, hurt, stiffness….. that is PSA. I use that tidbit daily to reduce PSA rigidity, stiffness, soreness.
