Does Anyone Have Problems With Balance And Vertigo?

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a complex problem with my vestibular system (including vestibular neuronitis and BPPV) that I am beginning to suspect is partly due to psoriatic disease. There is a LITTLE support in the scientific literature for an association between psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis and vestibular problems. I'd be interest if there are many other people on this site whose vestibular system might be affected by multisystem psoriasis.

Thanks so much for sharing. I will follow up with you and would love to also hear from others. (It's very helpful, since I am trying to compare notes with other Ps/PsA patients and track down a potential pattern of vestibular problems. )

It would be helpful to know if you problem came on suddenly and dramatically (or whether appeared more unobtrusively)

At any time have you had 'room spinning' especially with head movements?
Do you know about the diagnosis BPPV? (There's an especially good description from Mayo Clinic)

I look forward to your sharing what you learn from your ENT. (Because it's not a well established connection to Ps/PsA most ENT don't consider a possible connection)

Vertigo was one of the first symptoms, approx 5yrs ago.
It was quite bad, but fluctuates, and sometimes it went away.
But over 13months ago I was sick with viruses for months, and my ears blocked up.
My gp said its fluid and will have to drain on its own, but could also be caused from Psa.
Then in May this year, my sinuses started playing up, hearing got worse and vertigo returned.
Tried many nasal sprays, nothing would unblock my ears or help sinuses.
Two weeks ago, I was sent to have a hearing test in preparation for an ENT.
I have significant hearing loss, though still feel its all connected with sinus problem.
I have a white noise, quite loud at night, and vertigo is mild, but enough to feel out of sorts and whoosey.
Ill be seeing an ent in a few months, and my rheumy in December.
But Im worried the damage is from Psa.

I recently have been hit with a few vertigo experiences . I’ve never had it in my life until now. I don’t know why. I woke up and when I stood up the room was spinning so fast I had to lay down and close my eyes it lasted a few minutes it was terrible. Anyone else get this?
