Hi Louise. I have not had a hip replacement, but I have had an elbow replacement (due to a fall) and shoulder surgery (tendons torn off bone & other issues). I think it's an individual thing. I have a friend with PsA and spondylosis. She reacts to everything - stress, medication, food etc. She needs shoulder surgery. I'm guessing her recovery will be filled with various issues and possible complications.
Me, I'm a glass half full person. I recovered very well from my surgeries. Be realistic on your expectations. My recent shoulder surgery has not fixed my shoulder so I can use it like 20 years ago. However, shoulder much better than before and only some pain. I need to manage what I do. I'm now asking people to life heavier items for me rather than doing myself.
