Sometimes we need to be our own advocate. I do trial & error with OTC products for a start to see if any workI.And I've found many that do. That's why this site is so great! I've also experienced non-productive visits to the dermatologist leaving with much frustration!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's struggles with severe plaque psoriasis. Here are some steps you can take to help him:

1. Find a Knowledgeable Dermatologist:
- Ensure the dermatologist specializes in psoriasis and is willing to treat it. Dermatologists are the best specialists for this condition as they can diagnose and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Consider the dermatologist's experience with psoriasis and their willingness to use telehealth for follow-up appointments if travel is an issue.

2. Document Symptoms:
- Take photos, keep a journal, and detail his symptoms to share during appointments. This can provide a more accurate look at his condition between visits.

3. Treatment Options:
- Discuss various treatments with the dermatologist, such as phototherapy, topical therapy (like corticosteroid cream), oral medications, or injected biologic drugs.

4. Manage Itching and Pain:
- Managing itching is crucial as it impacts quality of life. Ensure the dermatologist takes his itching seriously and provides appropriate treatments.

5. Proactive Communication:
- Make sure he feels listened to and that his input is considered when choosing treatment options.

By following these steps, you can help ensure he receives the right level of care and support.
