I cannot take any biological drugs and unfortunately in the UK they are not keen on doing PUVA treatment which is the only thing which works. I have tried every cream for psoriasis which exists but none have any effect at all. I am allergic to cortisone and all derivatives.

Psoriasis and iron deficiency anemia are often interconnected, particularly because psoriasis is associated with chronic inflammation, which can affect the body's ability to produce and maintain healthy red blood cells. Here’s how they are related:

1. **Iron Deficiency Anemia**: This occurs when your body doesn't have enough iron to produce hemoglobin, which is necessary for red blood cells to transport oxygen. People with psoriasis might experience iron deficiency due to decreased iron absorption or increased loss of iron.

2. **Anemia of Chronic Disease**: Also known as anemia of inflammation, this can occur in people with chronic inflammatory conditions like psoriasis. Chronic inflammation can lead to a reduction in the lifespan of red blood cells and impair the production of erythropoietin, a hormone that stimulates red blood cell production.

3. **Management and Treatment**:
- **Treating Underlying Psoriasis**: Managing psoriasis effectively can help mitigate the inflammatory processes that contribute to anemia.
- **Iron Supplements**: If the anemia is due to iron deficiency, iron supplements might be recommended.
- **Biologic Drugs**: Certain medications used to treat psoriasis, such as TNF-alpha inhibitors (e.g., etanercept, adalimumab), have been shown to improve anemia in some patients.

It's important for individuals with psoriasis to have regular screenings for anemia, especially if symptoms like fatigue are present, as addressing anemia can significantly improve quality of life.
