My PSA Was Dormant For Around 8 Years With A Yearly Flare, Then I Got Strep Throat And Since November I Have Been In Agony. Thoughts??
If you took an antibiotic for that infection then you have to heal the damage done to your gut lining by that antibiotic before you can get back to normal.
I don't have any thoughts other than to say I hope you feel better soon!
I'm curious, were you using medication that was controlling your PsA?
I’ll start off by saying I’m not a doctor, but my understanding is that psoriasis is a mechanism of an overactive immune system. Strep might seem like a minor illness, but your immune system has to do a lot of work to clear the infection. I imagine those darn streptococcus bacteria might have pushed your immune system back into overdrive. Whatever the reason is, I hope you’ll be back in remission before too long.
I wasn't I haven't been on mtx for 8 years just Prednisone about once a year for a few weeks when I got flares...now it's fully back and terrible pain two weeks after strep throat!
Scientific journals say that that happens because of your tonsilitis.
But they haven't convinced me yet. It happens to a lot of patients with arthritis. I think it's the antibiotic that causes your psoriatic arthritis to come back.
