Has Anyone Been On Methotrexate For A Long Time

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been on Methotrexate for nearly two years, the drug has worked very well for my condition. I have psoriasis arthritis.

Has anyone been on this drug for a long time? I envisage being on it for ever and just curious to see whether it has had an impact on the body/immune system with the effects that the drug does to slow down/stop the inflammation/stiffness.

I also have been on methotrexate for a long time at a very low dosage., as well as folic acid. Toss in Embrel and I have it all covered.

Yes I have been on it and off it for about 15 years. It stopped my itching, it reduced the size of the plaques it helped with the sore joints and in some places cleared my skin of psoriasis

Was on it for nearly 15yrs, but added a biologic (Enbrel) after 2. They worked great together for 7yrs! Your immune system will drop dramatically, but that's what it's supposed to do to eleviate the inflammation.

I've been on and off mtx forever- I use it as a booster with whatever else I'm using- Humira now, but Stelara, Consentyx, you name it. It helps my joints tremendously and clears my skin with the help of a biologic. I go off to give my liver a rest. I've had a biopsy and have seen a liver specialist since mtx is hard on your liver. Good luck!

I have been in and off forever I use as a booster with Enbrel, Stelara, and now Cosentyx. It always helps me, but doesn't work on its own. Good luck!
