I Was Just Diagnosed With Nail Psoriasis (1 Nail) Although I Don’t Seem To Have Any Other Visible Symptoms.

I am a little skeptical of my diagnosis but I am following doctor’s treatment. Has anybody’s psoriasis started like this?

Mine didnt start till many years later. It could be both pso and fungal. I used some fungal cream for a few weeks to see if it was pso or not. In some cases it was fungal and other it was pso. I still have a tiny bit of nail pso, but it is almost gone now.

Nail psoriasis can indeed occur even if you don't have other visible symptoms of psoriasis. Here are some key points about nail psoriasis:

- Symptoms: Nail psoriasis can cause discoloration, splitting, peeling, subungual hyperkeratosis (chalky buildup beneath the nails), pitting (dents), blood under the nails, onycholysis (separation from the nail bed), cracking, deformed shape, and onychomycosis (fungal infection).
- Treatment: It can be treated with topical treatments, systemic medications, and therapies like steroid injections. It may take up to six months for nails to fully grow out after treatment.
- Risks: Nail psoriasis increases the risk of fungal and other nail infections, so it's important to have your dermatologist check for these.

It's great that you're seeking information early on. If you have any concerns or notice changes, keep in touch with your healthcare provider.

My psoriasis spread to my nail beds. Had horrible pitting & the nail almost came off. I thought it some kind of allergic reaction to something. Never took prescr meds for it but it went away on it's own after 4 yrs of torture.

My dermatologist has ruled out fungal, so now I'm trying Daivobet and then Daivonex.
