Has Anyone Experienced Heel Pain (Plantar Fasciitis)? Is It A Symptom Of PsA?

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have symptoms of mild psoriasis on my skin, nails and scalp. I also had an inflamed toe which I recovered from. I now have a pain in my foot that matches symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis. I can walk for about 2 miles before it becomes painful and then I would limp. Is this a common complication of Psoriasis? Thank you for your comments and help.

Hi @A MyPsoriasisTeam Member, I have done a google search and read some replies on this thread. It seems that it is a likely symptom of PsA.
I tried several stretches that had helped. The most effective one was trying to reach my toes with knees straight whilst standing. It offered instant relief. If you try it, please let me know how it works for you.
Best wishes,
Badr

Yes, heel pain, specifically from plantar fasciitis, is a symptom of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Plantar fasciitis occurs when the ligament on the bottom of your foot becomes inflamed. This condition can make it difficult to stand, walk, and perform daily activities. Additionally, PsA can cause inflammation in the joints of the feet, leading to pain, swelling, stiffness, and difficulty walking.

For more details, you can refer to the following points from the knowledge base:
- PsA can cause inflammation in the joints of the feet, leading to pain, swelling, stiffness, and difficulty walking.
- Plantar fasciitis is a condition where the ligament on the bottom of your foot becomes inflamed, often causing heel pain.
- Achilles tendinitis, another source of heel pain, is also associated with PsA.

For managing foot pain caused by PsA, consider:
- Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen or naproxen.
- Custom orthotics and proper footwear as advised by a podiatrist.
- Heel pads for cushioning and support.
- Compression socks to reduce swelling.
- Night splints to prevent heel pain with plantar fasciitis.

When I come down with the Fasciitis I like to use the Warm Water Soak then Ice it [10-15min HOTπŸ”΄ - 10-15minutes ICEπŸ”΅]. The trick is to do this numerous times over time. I would say.... start with 4 sets of Ice and Heat [about an hour]. See how U feel after that.πŸ™‚It may take some time but this is a Remedy that I know of that pays off big in the end.
This is Youtube channel, "Sports Injury Clinic". It's an older Video/U can learn a great deal about Fasciitis & other Conditions from watching Youtube Vids like these.. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/VUHVSK7x_yc
