Hi Norene, sometimes an outbreak can last a lifetime and it may heal up during times of remission or after treatment then break out again. It depends on the individual! Personally have found that stress and hot weather caused most of my outbreaks. I live in Australia and have just been through a very hot summer here which caused my psoriasis to flare up badly, so much so that I had to seek help from a doctor who prescribed a topical ointment and this has helped.
Good luck on your psoriasis journey and try not to stress about things too much. Take time out to watch the grass grow, enjoy the little things that make you smile and be gentle on yourself!πŸŒΊπŸ¨πŸ’–

Hi Norene, I had horrible psoriasis. Learned Psoriasis is a gut problem. Stopped eating inflammatory foods that caused it. Vegetables, seed oils and grain have the protein lectin which slowly distroyes your digestion. I first followed Dr Gundrys diet You Tube videos. Which helped a little then I followed Dr Ken Berry complete carnibore diet. I learned Meat and Animal fat have zero lectins and have all neutrients you need. for health My psoriasis completely gone. good skin no itch at all. There is a facebook Carnivore group with 30,000 members. read some of their testmonies. My friend lost almost 100 pounds on this same diet I gained 5 pounds on. I'm very skinny starting to get more energy. Mike

Hi Norene,
I hope your flare stops soon!
For me, the longest I have had a psoriasis flare was 6+ years. No doctor recognized it as psoriasis so what they prescribed didn't really help, and at some point I gave up. My main spot is located behind my ear and does not form a plaque so no one suspected psoriasis. I have it in other areas but they come and go. One doctor prescribed a cream that took care of it and stopped it for a couple years, but it came back for another 18 months before I finally got an accurate diagnosis. I'm on a biologic and it has been clear for 5 months now...fingers crossed.
My main concern with using topicals is they are probably not dealing with the systemic inflammation.
@A MyPsoriasisTeam Member I think it is different for everyone. I have not noticed an association with food but more with stress. Even a difficult conversation with a person can cause my ear to start itching. Travelling can cause a flare up.
