. My Rheumatologist Prescribed Methotrexate And Folic Acid. Has Anyone Used This Medication? How Was Your Side Effects?
The most important thing on methotrexate is getting regular liver profiles done. I had to come off when my enzymes became elevated. Like Michael3, it never helped my psoriasis, but Humira injections did.
I seen that is a side effect. He gave me a prescription for folic acid 1 pill daily 1 mg. I hope that helps you.
I’m on weekly methotrexate injections right now, plus monthly Taltz injections. I’ve been on and off of methotrexate for 25 years. Most people start with the pills once a week plus 1 mg folic acid every day. But a lot of people, myself included, get an upset stomach and other gastrointestinal issues from the pills, so the dermatologist or rheumatologist will switch to once a week injections instead, which in most cases alleviates the problem completely.
Methotrexate never really helped my psoriasis, but was amazing for the psoriatic arthritis. Nearly all swollen joints were healed and I could walk again. But it’s different for everyone, so good luck with it, and hopefully it works really well for you.
Wishing you the best.
My rhemy increased folic acid to 2 a day 1mg had some hair loss and WBC was alittle low
Good luck w this rx. I was on it for PsA for couple yrs. and did pretty well. Have had significant hair loss which is not seen frequently w Methotrexate. So switching med now.
