Hi, my name is Georgios and I have a partner with psoriasis. She’s had it since she was 16 and in the last year has been on the biological injection.

We are looking to travel Asia/Australua for about a year or so. We live in Ireland. Does anyone here have any experience in travelling while being on this sort of medication ?

The injection needs to be kept refrigerated and that’s highly unlikely to happen if we were to go travelling. Is there any way in which we can make our travel plans a… read more

Hi Georgios! Traveling with biologics for psoriasis can be challenging, but it's definitely possible with some planning. Here are some tips from my knowledge base to help you and your partner:

1. Use a Portable Cooler: Invest in a high-quality portable cooler or medical-grade travel cooler to keep the medication at the required temperature.

2. Plan Ahead: Research and book accommodations that offer refrigeration options. Many hotels and hostels can provide a mini-fridge upon request.

3. Talk to Your Doctor: Consult with your partner's dermatology provider. They can offer advice on managing the medication during travel and may provide a travel letter explaining the need for refrigeration.

4. Check Airline Policies: Contact airlines in advance to understand their policies on carrying medication and using coolers. Some airlines may allow you to use their onboard refrigeration.

5. Stay Informed About Local Resources: Identify pharmacies and medical facilities at your destinations that can store or provide emergency medication if needed.

6. Join Support Networks: Engage with communities like MyPsoriasisTeam to get advice and support from others who have traveled with biologics.

By following these steps, you can make your travel plans a reality while ensuring your partner's medication is properly managed. Safe travels!
